Meet authors Lisa McMann & Jenifer Nielsen at Hicklebee's Friday March 22 at 3:00 (presentation at 3:30).
We had the pleasure of meeting Lisa McMann, author of The Unwanteds ("... Hunger Games meets Harry Potter" - Kirkus Review) last fall when she appeared in some local schools.
This is our first chance to host Jennifer Nielsen. We can't wait to chat with the incredible talent behind The False Prince, a book that had us gushing with enthusiasm.
McMann & Nielsen have each written books for Scholastic's newest series, The Infinity Ring. This groundbreaking series allows kids to experience history like never before as they travel back in time to fix the Great Breaks, key moments in history that have gone off course. The adventure combines books and a fully immersive online game that put kids in the middle of the action aboard Santa María in 1492, at a medieval Viking invasion, in the Underground Railroad, and more.
|Dak, Sera, and Riq return to the United States and walk immediately into a deadly trap. The year is 1850, and the nation is divided over the issue of slavery. In these dark days, the Underground Railroad provides a light of hope, helping runaway slaves escape to freedom. But the SQ has taken control of the Underground Railroad from within. Now Dak and Sera are left wondering who to trust . . . while Riq risks everything to save the life of a young boy.
Book includes an all-new, full-color Hystorian's Guide - your key to unlocking the third episode of the action-packed Infinity Ring game!
Jennifer Nielsen's title in the Infinity Ring series won't be published until December. Her incredible sequel to The False Prince will be.
Just weeks after Jaron has taken the throne, an assassination attempt forces him into a deadly situation. Rumors of a coming war are winding their way between the castle walls, and Jaron feels the pressure quietly mounting within Carthya. Soon, it becomes clear that deserting the kingdom may be his only hope of saving it. But the further Jaron is forced to run from his identity, the more he wonders if it is possible to go too far. Will he ever be able to return home again? Or will he have to sacrifice his own life in order to save his kingdom?
The stunning second installment of The Ascendance Trilogy takes readers on a roller-coaster ride of treason and murder, thrills and peril, as they journey with the Runaway King!
“‘Infinity Ring’ provides an opportunity for stealth education, as it plunges readers into the past and encourages them to think about cause and effect.” - Rick Riordan, New York Times Book Review
